The application of the irrigation solution mechanically removes secretions, biofilm, necrotic tissue, and toxins present on the wound surface. This process decontaminates the wound, reduces microbial load, and thereby shortens the healing time. Wound irrigation also promotes blood circulation in the wound bed, supporting subsequent granulation and epithelialization.

Manner of use

Irrigation of acute wounds: By pressing the product container, a stream of irrigation solution is generated and directed to the targeted area. The fluid mechanically flushes debris from the wound until the treated area is clean.

Treatment of chronic wounds: Debridement (removal of biofilm) is performed by pressing the container to generate a stream of irrigation solution, which is directed to the targeted area. The fluid mechanically flushes debris from the wound until the treated area is clean. Patients are often sensitive to temperature in these cases; the solution can be warmed to body temperature. Long-term use of the product should be under medical supervision.

When applying the solution into wound cavities, proper drainage must always be ensured, either via a drain or another suitable method.

Cleansing the wound surrounding area: It is important to cleanse the area around the wound to minimize the risk of contaminating the wound from its surroundings. The stream of solution should be directed to thoroughly clean the wound perimeter. At the same time, care must be taken to ensure that the solution drains away from the wound surface.

Moistening adhered wound dressings: In the case of adhered wound dressings, it is recommended to moisten the dressing material with the wound irrigation solution. This softens dried exudates, allowing the dressings to be removed gently without traumatizing the wound surface.

Moistening wounds: This is performed by single or repeated application of the solution to the targeted area. If appropriate, the dressing material can be soaked with the solution to moisten the desired area.

Attention

The product must not be applied:

  • Into tissues under pressure or by injection, and

  • in the presence of products containing PVP-iodine.

For external use only on skin wounds. Not for internal use.

To prevent unwanted microbial contamination, care must be taken to ensure that the container does not come into contact with the wound. If contact occurs and contamination transfer is possible, dispose of the product as hazardous waste in accordance with applicable regulations.
